Grand Lodge of New Brunswick To: District Deputy Grand Masters, Worshipful Masters, Secretaries From: RWB Ed Burridge CC: MWB M. Graham, RWB P. Whittaker, RWB R. Nelson Date: 3/19/2010 Re: GLNB 5 Year Plan Attached you will find the GLNB 5 Year Plan and Speaking Notes. This document is intended to be shared as broadly as possible within the GLNB Masonic Community. The full document will also be available on the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick website. It is intended to provide the growth directions for the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick for the next five years. This plan will be submitted at the Grand Lodge Annual Communication for formal approval. In the interim, you will also have received a message from the Grand Master supporting to this plan and further actions to be taken. The Board of General Purposes has given direction for this plan to be made available throughout the jurisdiction with encouragement to begin taking steps to address the targets. Each Worshipful Master is requested to review the contents of the 5 year plan and with the assistance of the Speaking Notes address the topic with his lodge. It is intended that each lodge will establish processes to address the targets of the plan within his lodge. This is a process that will require time and dedication although, if properly scheduled, the commitment will not be onerous. District Deputy Grand Masters will oversee the implementation and results of each of the lodges within their districts. Although I cannot commit to being available to all lodges individually, I will make an effort to respond to calls for assistance. We can make arrangements for me to attend District Council Meetings to address the topic and provide assistance and guidance. I attempt to accompany the Grand Master on his visits to lodges and can, if requested, address some of the key points during those visits. I cannot overstress the importance of action being taken with respect to this plan. This plan was developed with the input of a large number of Masons throughout the province. I believe that there is an expectation that something will happen. I believe that there is an overwhelming interest in responding to the challenges of the day and making the changes that are required to ensure that our fraternity remains vital and relevant. It is only through the actions of Districts, Blue Lodges and Individual Masons that change will occur. This cannot become a routine task that we will deal with when "we get the time". It must become a priority for each lodge. Many lodges are already working on initiatives to deal with these challenges. This will provide a format within which those initiatives will be structured. I believe that the payoffs will be truly worth the effort and I am equally certain that the effort must be made in an overt and committed manner. I look forward to working with the lodges within my district and assisting as many others as I am able. Targets and Strategies Speaking Notes on 5-Year Plan The 5-year plan (PDF format) |
