Brethren, as we pause for a moment to reflect on the year just completed let us be proud of our many achievements throughout our various lodges and in the communities throughout the jurisdiction. The election and appointment of the new lodge officers are now complete and the process of installation of these new leaders and leaders in training are now underway.

Each of you as a Master, or Master-Elect is a Leader so, I suggest that you lead; lead by setting the example; lead by educating your Brethren in the true meaning of Freemasonry; lead by allowing others to make use of their many talents. You must inspire all the brethren to share their nature and their talents as we have all heard the saying that "things that do not change become extinct" and so in each day in each mason's life, there should be change—positive change resulting in growth. You as a leader must provide the setting for that change and for that growth but you need the support, commitment and involvement of the Brethren. Whatever your plans are for Freemasonry, you have no choice but to use the tools at hand: the Brethren and the organization that was so carefully given by those who preceded you in trust to accomplish.

Being a leader is never easy and I believe that is especially true in Freemasonry as each of us is dedicated to the full extent of our talent and ability in an exercise that seems, at times, to offer little hope for successful completion, but we continue the preparation of a good man to become a better man in the midst of a world with many temptations. This work must continue as it is not complete. It will always be ongoing; an act of Brotherly love that never ends.

As we look forward and plan for the future, we must review and remember our past. Our past is the key to the pattern of events that will form Freemasonry's future. History shows us that the only justification for our past and our present is the future that comes from them.

Brethren let us move forward through 2010 and beyond with a renewed commitment and dedication to the beliefs and principles of this great organization of ours.
